Letter to Hon. Karen Hughes, Under Secretary of United States PDF Print E-mail

September 19, 2005

To: Hon. Karen Hughes, Under Secretary of State, 2201 C Street, NW, Washington, DC 20520.

From: Mr. M. Khaliq Qureshi, 1317 Shamrock Lane, Plano, TX 75093. Res. Tel:: 972-380-5106. Dear Under Secretary of State Karen Hughes,

Greetings. May God bless you, your family, the generous people of the United States and, above all, the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Amen. Millions of people in America and around the world watched helplessly the tragic drama unfold on live televisions. We will remember the events and the sufferers for some time and then they will be forgotten, but those who were there will never get it out of their minds. A tragedy like this gives us a chance to act and show compassion for the human-beings, and also remember those who suffer under occupation and oppression, as peoples in Chechnya, Kashmir and Palestine - the Conflict Areas and the root cause of terrorism. As Head of the most powerful country on earth, it must be a humbling experience for President Bush to feel shaky in reviewing his present and earlier inactions and actions concerning Katrina, Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine. Some of the President's policies and actions have generated a lot of anger in the world, particularly the Muslim world. As a friend of the President, I can suggest a peaceful process to improve his negative image and also that of the USA. You are a trusted and closest adviser of President Bush, and that is why he gave you the task of improving the United States image in Muslim countries. Also, being a mother you have a better frame of mind to listen to the cries of mothers whose families are suffering under brutal occupation in the Conflict areas. If Honorable Karen Hughes really wants to help the President to restore his and America's positive image in the Muslim world, then the simplest, honest, sincere and the just way is to ask the President to resolve the Palestine and Kashmir issues through the UN Resolutions, and the Chechnya conflict by friendly persuasion of Mr. Putin. In the last decade, this is the message I have given to the Muslim and non-Muslim leaders of the world, but no one cares except King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and President Musharraf. For your review, and action, enclosed are copies of my letters written to President Bush. The President has received a similar messageIf the President desires to do something great, end terrorism and want to be remembered forever in the annals of history as a man of peace, then he must help the people of Chechnya Kashmir and Palestine to achieve their freedoms. as promised in his 2nd Inaugural address as follows: "All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know the United States will not ignore your oppression or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you." If the justice is not done to Muslims of the Conflict Areas, then terrorism will increase, America will continue to lose face, respect, and may be its soul, and there will be no peace and security for anyone in the world. from CIA officials and an American Ambassador to Syria, Edward Djerejian, but their advice was ignored. I have written a lot on the human rights abuses and the Muslim suffering in the Conflict areas, however, here are the latest figures on Indian savagery in Kashmir: In the last fifteen years of Kashmiri struggle, India - a country who claims to be the biggest democracy - has martyred 90,336 Kashmiris; arrested 110,840, women widowed 22,307; women raped/disgraced 9,604; children orphaned 106,489; and houses burnt 105,032. In view of this, the President Bush should not help such a country with nuclear power plants and advanced weapons because, if implemented, the US-India defense agreement may lead to nuclear conflict in South Asia where millions of people-will die and the survivors will envy the dead.

So, I offer a simple process to end wars and terrorism in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq, Kashmir and Palestine, as follows: Please arrange an urgent meeting between President Bush and two of his good friends in the Muslim world, that is, King Abdullah and President Musharraf, in order to find an effective strategy to use the UN Resolutions to solve the Kashmir and Palestine issues. and to persuade Mr. Putin to grant freedom to Chechnya . President Bush can become a peacemaker if he solves the conflicts through honesty and justice. If that happens, then King Abdullah and President Musharraf will work with the UN and OIC to find an exit strategy for Iraq and Afghanistan. Please convince President Bush to act and change the course of history. Good luck.
