Letters to Maleeha Lodhi and President Musharraf PDF Print E-mail

November 4, 2001

Her Excellency, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi,
The Ambassador of Pakistan,
Embassy of Pakistan,
2315 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.
Washington, DC 20008.

Your Excellency,

Assalamo-Alaikum. May Allah always bless you, your family, Pakistan and our Ummah. Amen.

The tragic events of 11th September (the tragedy) have pained and humbled all of us. I pray that people of this small planet, called earth, will search their souls and use the opportunity provided by God Almighty to end the individual and State-sponsored terrorism that is responsible for massive human sufferings in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq, Kashmir, Palestine, etc.

The Tragedy has put Pakistan and Pakistani leadership in a difficult position. I have noted with great satisfaction that the Pakistani leadership has adopted the correct and righteous course to solidly align itself with the United Nations and the United States of America. General Musharraf has taken a very bold and courageous stand and his actions are in the best interests of Pakistan. He has performed brilliantly and all Pakistanis should be thankful to Allah that HE has provided them with a leader who is honest and wise enough to put Pakistan on a firm footing. May Allah keep General Musharraf safe and healthy and provide him with continued courage to steer through the crisis and take Pakistan and the Muslim world to greater heights? Amen. I also want to put on record my sincere thanks to you for doing an excellent job of projecting Pakistan's viewpoint in world forums. We are very proud of you.

Dear Ambassador, I have tried several times to meet you or at least speak to you on the phone but my efforts proved fruitless. Although sometimes I become frustrated, but I never get disappointed because if I do that then it means that I have lost faith in Allah. As you may have noted, it is my faith that all of us have to do our parts to help unite the Muslim Ummah so that they speak with ONE VOICE, but the ultimate success will come only when it is the WILL of Allah. Since I don't know if I will be successful this time to speak to you for a few minutes, I am faxing this letter along with a copy of the e-mail message that I had sent to Gen. Musharraf on the night when he was flying back to Pakistan after the Agra Summit. Since you will be helping and preparing President Musharraf for the very important meetings in the United Nations and with the American leadership, please tell him that we are all praying for him to be successful in this defining moment of his life. His current trip is very historic. He has to seize the opportunity to assume the leadership and speak not only for Pakistan but the entire Muslim world. I am faxing you a copy of the letter that I had written to President Bush (and he replied on September 4th) on how to end the terrorism in the world. I hope you will share the information/ideas with the GENERAL. Will you? Thanks and warm regards.
