Letter to President Clinton to end Palestinian suffering PDF Print E-mail

May 31, 2000

The Honorable  President WILLIAM  J. CLINTON,
The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.,
Washington, DC 20500.

An Appeal to end the Sufferings of Palestinians,
Chechens, Kashmiris and Iraqis

Dear Mr. President,

May God's blessings be always with you, your family and the United States of America. Amen. In the last five years I have written several letters (copies enclosed) to you and other American leaders  seeking  Justice for the suffering Palestinians, Chechens, Kashmiris, Bosnians, Kosovans and Iraqis. In the case of Kosova, I know all Muslims are with me to salute you, and praise your advisors - specially Secretary Albright, Secretary Cohen, Sandy Burger, General Clark, Richard Holbrook, Dennis Ross, Jamie Rubin and Rahm Emanuel, - for your leadership to  unite NATO that ended the evil designs of Milosovic and saved Kosovans from death and humiliation. Your advisors - the patriotic Americans - were put by God in that position because their families   had suffered greatly in the Holocaust and they could better feel the anguish of Kosovans. May God inspire the advisors to show the same passion for Palestinians, Chechens, Kashmiris and Iraqis?

Mr. President, it is said that the slap one remembers after the fight/action should be used on one's own face. So whatever I have to say to you in the hope of ending the sufferings of the above-mentioned people must be said right now while you are still the President and have the power to do something about it. Many reporters have written that the President is lonely or depressed and after leaving the White House he will seek a career with the Dream Works or as a Peace Ambassador. Your recent 'Video Movie' answers most of those questions, so I will focus my appeal to the human rights issues. The United Nation's Conventions on Human Rights have declarations to which the nations of world are signatories, but how many nations respect them? In your book  "Between Hope and History" you state "We live in an age of enormous possibility...the opportunities this age presents us are extraordinary...challenges of this age are also extraordinary." Your Presidency provides you an extraordinary opportunity and a challenge to achieve the vision of a peaceful world community by focusing your efforts to end the continued sufferings of  Palestinians, Kashmiris, Chechens and Iraqis. The stated vision can be realized if you can change the mind-set  of Messieurs Barak, Rajpayee and Putin in the direction of REAL PEACE. In case of Iraq, you can  reduce Iraqi people's suffering by ending their sanctions.  You have the POWER, HEART and ABILITY to affect the minds and destiny of men/women and nations. You need only COURAGE and WILL to do that. You will not have the same chance once you leave the OFFICE. You know, President Carter must seek your approval to do any peace-work in a foreign country, because the State Department is worried he might say something contrary to the US Policy. However,  if your mission is ON when you leave, then everybody will be helpful.

Mr. President, if today we take stock of the world situation, it will become obvious that  Palestine, Kashmir and Chechnya are the three most volatile areas in the world having the potential of a nuclear holocaust. The leaders who control and occupy those areas are trapped in a mind-set that produces evil ideas causing great suffering for innocent people.  A significant change in the attitude of the leaders in Israel, India and Russia can end the human suffering there, and the person who can do it  is President Clinton - the most powerful man on earth. Many believe a lame duck president can't achieve much in the last months of the Presidency. In fact,  it is the best time to accomplish GREAT THINGS because the President is under little pressure. If you desire to join the company of  Great Leaders, like Churchill and Roosevelt, then you must embark on a PERSONAL MISSION-FOR-PEACE,  and visit the leaders in Israel, India and Russia. Remember:  Big Leaders may achieve big things but GREAT leaders WILL achieve GREAT THINGS.  Mr. President, seize the opportunity, try your best and let GOD do the rest.

The end of Cold War was a spectacular event and it was hoped that the world leaders have shed enough human blood in the 20th Century and now they will move away from violence, but the bloodshed continues. The leaders of Russia, India and Israel are continuing their blood-thirsty policies of occupation and oppression that result in tremendous suffering for Chechens, Kashmiris and Palestinians. The new KGB-trained and iceberg-faced Russian president is reviving and expanding, once again, Stalin's plan to exterminate the Chechen people. Mr. Putin is reported to have said that the dark-skinned people (Chechens) must be annihilated - a leader showing a clear picture of an evil and a racist mind-set. You may recall that during your trip to south Asia, a similar example of an evil mind-set was given by the Indian leadership who engineered the massacre of 36 Sikhs in the Chatti Singpora village in south Kashmir, and then killed six innocent Kashmiris from  the same area, in order to blame them for the murder of Sikhs. It  was a  cowardly and heinous act staged  to create Muslim-Sikh hatred; and poison Pakistan-US relations. In short, the leadership of Russia, India and Israel exhibit the worst state of tyranny and terrorism.

Mr. President, I appeal to you to get involved, not as a 'FACILITATOR' but as a CATALYST, and put the leaders of Israel, India and Russia on a path of human decency and peace. The leaders must be reminded that they can commit all kinds of atrocities but they will never be able to subjugate the Chechens, Kashmiris and Palestinians forever. Eventually they will have to pull out their forces from the occupied areas. Mr. President, you may or may not believe it, but when the leaders of a country feel very powerful, become arrogant and continue all kinds of brutal acts on innocent human beings, and good people do nothing, then as a Divine Chastisement, God Almighty manifests His power in sudden and strange ways that can be called - WRATH OR JUSTICE OF GOD - and that is what happened in south Lebanon. A Similar thing occurred with the United States in Vietnam; with Soviet Union in Afghanistan; with Serbia in Kosova; with Russia in Chechnya in 1996, and will definitely happen in Kashmir if India doesn't allow the Kashmiris their legitimate right to decide their future through a UN-sponsored plebiscite. Israel , the sixth-largest nuclear power in the world with 200 nuclear weapons, and the rockets and planes to deliver them (US News & World Report-March 23, 1987),  suddenly becomes powerless. Why? Think? Mothers of Palestine, Kashmir and Chechnya are considered to be sub-human by the leaders of Israel, India and Russia, so, I will mention here only one brave Israeli mother, Ms. Ben Dor, who dared to challenge Israel's leadership and forced them to quit the senseless occupation of  Lebanon. I hope leaders of the three countries will listen to the cries of all mothers and pull out their forces from the occupied areas. Mr. President, Allah is the witness I have done my part. Only God can inspire you to do your part and bring peace and happiness to the areas.

Mr. Mohammed Khaliq Qureshi,
1317 Shamrock Lane, Plano, TX 75093.
