Letter to Dr. Naseer Al-Kidwa - Palestinian Observer at UN PDF Print E-mail

July 30, 1999

His Excellency Dr. Naseer Al-Kidwa,
Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the United Nations,
115 East - 65 Street,
New York, NY 10021.
Tel : 212-288-8500.

Your Excellency,

Assalamo-Alaikum. May Allah bless you, your family, all Palestinians and your beloved Palestine. For a very long time, I had watched in agony the suffering of the Palestinian people, and always it had been my wish to do something about it. So on September 10, 1987, I took the first step and wrote an appeal letter to Sultan of Brunei - a newly independent country called Brunei Darusallam - to take up the cause of Palestine. However, my main effort in the cause of Palestine and other Muslim issues began soon after the tragedies of Bosnia and Chechnya. At that time (December 11, 1994 when Chechnya was invaded by Russia ) I launched my ONE-MAN MISSION for Muslim Unity with the hope to find a Muslim leader who was willing or can be persuaded to lead the Muslim world and solve the problems of Palestine, Bosnia, Kashmir, Chechnya, etc. Rather than going through all the details of my ONE -MAN MISSION for Muslim Unity, I enclose for your information and reading pleasure two sets of my appeal letters - first set concerning the cause of Palestine and the other set on the subject of Muslim Unity and related activities for other Muslim causes. These appeal letters will give you a glimpse and depth of my sincere commitment to the Muslim causes. I hope you will spare a few of your precious hours to read the letters completely  to get a good feel of my efforts for Palestine.

I am writing this letter MAINLY TO APPEAL TO YOU FOR PALESTINIAN UNITY. The time has come for all the Palestinians leaders - RADICAL AS WELL AS NON-RADICAL - to unite in order to face with ONE VOICE the Israeli leadership in the final phase of the peace negotiations. Mr. Barak has already created unity by establishing a wide coalition with seven Israeli parties including all the extremists on the right and left. He has even changed the name of the old Labor Party to One Israel. Since last year I have spoken as well as written letters to the newspapers on the subject of Palestinian Unity. (A sample copy of the letter published in a Jakarta Newspapers is enclosed.) Praise be to Allah that since that time there has been no suicide bombing and recently meetings have been held between PLO and NON-PLO factions to unify Palestinian ranks. Now, I specifically appeal to you to take the initiative and call a meeting of the leaders of American Palestinians, and try to unite them so that they play a similar role in the American politics as exhibited by AIPAC - "Israeli lobby". I hope you will give a serious consideration to my appeal  and then take positive action for  PALESTINIAN UNITY.  Thanks and good luck.

Sincerely,

Mr. M. Khaliq Qureshi,
