Letter to Dr. Israr Ahmed - requesting a friendly visit to Iran PDF Print E-mail
December 30, 1998
Dr. Israr Ahmed,
Ameer Tanzeem-e-Islami,
36 - K, Model Town,
Lahore - 54700 - Pakistan.

Dear Dr. Israr Ahmed,

Assalamo-Alaikum. May Allah always bless you, your family, Tanzeem-e-Islami and the Qur'an Academy. I hope this letter will find you in the best of your health and happiness. Ameen.

On March 8, 1998, I had written a letter (copy enclosed) to some of the top religious leaders in Pakistan concerning the subject of Sunni and Shia problem in the country. Some of the leaders responded to my appeal but I was surprised not to hear from you. Later on while attending a Convention in Washington, I inquired about your health from one of the representative running the booth of  Tanzeem-e-Islami, and learned that at the time you were in America for a lengthy knee operation. I was glad to know that the knee operation was successful.

In September, I received an introductory copy of the quarterly Journal of the Qur'an Academy (April-June 1998) from Mr. M. Ataur Rahman, Ameer of  T.I.N.A.,  in which I found your interview ( revised article) with Mr. Hadi  Askari of Tauheed International, and learned about your visit to Iran and the book about Shi'ah-Sunni Unity. Although my knowledge of Urdu is weak, still I have ordered the book and also subscribed to the Journal of Qur'an Academy.

For your reading pleasure and information, I am sending you some of my appeal letters on my one-man mission for Muslim Unity and related activities since March 1998. In particular, please note my letters to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Khatami. I plan to visit Iran hopefully in 1999 in order to find out if Mr. Khatami will be willing to take up the cause of Muslim Unity. Is it possible that both of us, you and me, can coordinate, work and go together to meet the Iranian leaders in Tehran  for the purpose of establishing a preliminary dialogue on Shi'ah-Sunni Unity? I will be glad to know about your views on the possible trip to Iran and any other comments on my one-man mission for Muslim Unity. Thanks and warm regards.
Sincerely,

Mr. M. Khaliq Qureshi,1317 Shamrock Lane,
