Appeal letter to First Lady Hillary Clinton to act in Bosnia PDF Print E-mail
December 19, 1995

First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton,
The White House,
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.,
Washington, DC 20500.

Dear First Lady,
I hope that this letter will find the First Lady in the best of health. On February 19, 1995, I had sent a letter to the First Lady concerning the tragedies in Chechnya and Bosnia. It is gratifying to note that the ideas and the wishes expressed in that letter have found a positive response in the President's actions, particularly on Bosnia. The American people  should be rightly proud of their President who has taken the moral courage to lead the western world to stop the slaughter in Bosnia and create conditions for peace. Before his departure for Paris, to attend the Peace signing ceremony, the President asked Mr. Elie Wiesel, one of the world's most noble and distinguished citizen and a Holocaust survivor, to bless his peace mission. It was very touching to hear Mr. Wiesel thank the President for doing the most honorable and decent thing in Bosnia. Since the II World War, if there was any place where the American people should be proud to send their sons and daughters, it is in Bosnia. One can understand the parent's concern, but it is a noble thing to expect from the Americans who are the most generous and kind people on earth. The truth is that the Bosnian Muslims don't want American soldiers but need arms to defend themselves.

The majority of the quarter of a million people who have been slaughtered by the Serbs are the Muslims. What will happen to the children and the families of the victims of the genocide? The victim's wounds will heal better if the main perpetrators of the unspeakable atrocities are caught and punished by the International community. Who are these perpetrators? Let me give you a historical hint. Chenghiz Khan (1162-1227) slaughtered more human beings than any other known conqueror in the world. Chenghiz once remarked : "The greatest joy is to conquer one's enemies, to pursue them, to seize their property, to see their families in tears, to ride their horses and to possess their daughters and wives". Does the name of any Serbian leaders ring the bell? Did any one of the six million Jews, slaughtered by the Nazis, was ever killed by Hitler himself? No, Hitler had those crimes done by his own Eichmanns. Was any single Bosnian Muslim ever killed by Slobodan Milosevic? No, he had his own Eichmanns to do the criminal acts. The Bosnian war criminals must receive exemplary punishment. Otherwise, the survivors of the genocide will always think of the revenge, and the cycle of violence will go on and on.

Dear First lady, this letter represents nothing more than a simple THANK YOU note, from a simple human being, for pleading the case on behalf of Bosnia and Chechnya to the President, as expressed in my letter of February 19, 1995. May God bless the First Family.

Very respectfully yours,

M. Khaliq Qureshi,
